The End of the Honeymoon Phase

I started this blog over three years ago as a way to chronicle my life as a newlywed. It was such an exciting time in my life and I wanted to share it with the world. I’ve had some exciting moments and some tough ones. I watched as my little blog got hundreds of hits in one hour after my post on bachelor Jason Mesnick was put on the front page of WordPress. I’ve used this blog to organize charity outreach events and promote causes. But the busier my writing career has become the more difficult it has been to find time to write here. So as part of my 2011 action plan I’ve decided to put an end to the Honeymoon Phase. Yes, I still love my husband and yes, he still gives me butterflies, but I need to put my focus elsewhere.

I realized that much of what I’m writing about here would be perfectly acceptable content for one of my other blogs. So if you want to keep following The Honeymoon Phase just head to one of these blogs: This is my professional website and blog, but starting this year I will include a little bit more of my personal side. For instance, my latest post features a photo of my new nephew Beck and a video of what’s happening at my Greenville office while I’m away in Seattle. Sign up for the feed here. This is my personal finance blog. I write several others, but this is the only one that I own. This year I will be revamping the site and putting more of my energy into this blog. I realized that a lot of my posts here on The Honeymoon Phase had to do with saving money and couponing so now those posts will be found at Sign up for the feed here. This is a new business started by a few friends and I. There are some incredibly exciting things coming up for us this year so be sure to follow our blog to stay on top of that! Subscribe to the feed here. You can also like  us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.

Thank you for reading, commenting and being a part of my life through my blog. I hope to see you on my other sites! And you can always tweet me or find me on Facebook.

The End

Degree Women Daring Reporter Contest: Will You Vote for Me?

A few weeks ago I stumbled across a contest I thought looked cool. The winner gets to travel around the country to different Lilith Fair festivals and report on the events for Degree Women. So I entered and I just found out I’m a finalist! But in order to win I need votes!

1. Just head to and click “like”.

2. Then go under the VOTE tab and you’ll see my picture. (I’m the third one from the left!)

3. Click the “Vote” button.

You can vote once a day until June 21 so please mark it down on your to-do list for the rest of the week! Thank you for your support!

Love This Book

Have you read it?

I can’t tell you how many books I’ve started and been unable to finish because of my low tolerance for bad writing. But this one I devoured. And I know it’s good because sometimes I still visit the places Kathryn Stockett writes about in my mind. The only thing I don’t like about this book is the cover. But I guess that’s OK because I’ve been sucked in to a bad book by a great cover quite a few times.  And this time it was the writing that kept me hooked.

Have you read it? What did you think?

The Five Love Languages are Everywhere (Including No-Pants Subway Rides)

A couple weeks ago I interviewed bestselling author Gary Chapman’s daughter for a magazine article. Shelley Chapman is a doctor here in Greenville. In preparation for the interview I read her dad’s most popular book, The Five Love Languages. In the past two weeks this book seems to be following me everywhere… in magazines I read, blog posts I click on and even in random YouTube videos I watch, like this one. Enjoy the 9th annual No Pants Subway Ride!

And don’t forget to pick up the February issue of Belle to read my article with Shelley Chapman!

Blog Talk at WYFF

Behind the Scenes at WYFF

Behind the Scenes at WYFF

This morning I had the privilege of being interviewed by WYFF anchor Kelly Coakley on their Sunday morning show. I got to talk about one of my favorite topics– this blog! Kelly asked me all about The Honeymoon Phase and being married. She says you’ll be able to watch the interview on Sound off South. Although I had to wake up super early to make it to the studio for two segments in the 7am show, it was fun and I am glad I got to be a part of it!
